The Doula Concept
In ancient Greece the doula was the person, usually a woman, who helped other women before, during, and after childbirth. The modern day doula helps the mother and her partner achieve a positive childbirth experience.
Mothering the Mother takes this concept one step further. Our postpartum Doula nurture the whole family in their home, during the days following childbirth.
The structure of today's families requires a different kind of support than in previous generations. The Doula can provide physical, emotional, and educational support to new mother and family. This allows the mother to adjust to her new family at her own pace.
